We absolutely adore these older souls and the presence they bring to your home. They might be set in their ways but we know them well to advise on the best match for potential adopters. Our senior kitties come to us from all sorts of backgrounds and origin stories. We think it is so special when an adopter wants to open their heart and home to an older kitty, knowing the reward will be so great to see them completely comfortable and happy where they belong. We commit to providing initial veterinary care to get a good picture of our senior kitties health prior to adoption so we can share everything we know about the cat prior to adoption. Give a senior a chance! You won’t regret it!

*Please note that we aim to keep this page updated with available and adoptable cats but things change every day. Cats and kittens may become unavailable as applications are approved. This silly little 11 year old gal was adopted several years ago and unfortunately returned when her owner had to move across the country and fell on hard times. Oreo was quite scared when she came back to us and took months and months to even come out of her carrier in her foster home. It was heartbreaking. Fast forward to now, she has come leaps and bounds from the carrier dweller she once was but she still does like to find cozy places to hunker down… like under the sink in her foster mom’s bathroom. Oreo has surprised us the last several weeks as she’s been out and about exploring, hanging on the couch with her foster family watching tv, and accepting pets with some purrs in exchange. She’s not a cuddle bug just yet, but we’re confident that once she’s in a forever home that allows her to settle in time, she’s going to flourish into the laid back senior sweetie she’s always meant to be. These days, our senior girl has discovered that the finer things in life are actually pretty wonderful, especially a cozy place to hide when she’s feeling unsure, a full bowl of food, and as many pets as you’re willing to give her. Piggly doesn’t ask for much, but if you sit down on the floor and meet her on her level, don’t be surprised when she comes running over for attention. She has become quite the purr monster and absolutely loves being petted and brushed, though she has no problem politely reminding you with a gentle swat when she’s decided spa time is over. She’s even gotten playful as she’s grown more comfortable in her foster home, and watching her become braver and more confident has been such a special transformation. Piggly isn’t exactly a lap cat, but she is very much a lap-adjacent cat, perfectly content to enjoy your company without needing to be right on top of you. After spending so many years relying only on herself, we think that makes the trust she gives her people even more meaningful. Piggly would likely be happiest as your one and only, although she may be able to live with another calm, independent cat who is happy to give her plenty of personal space. As a senior lady, Piggly does have kidney disease and will need to remain on a prescription kidney diet, which she thankfully eats like a champ when it comes to her dry food. She occasionally humors us with the kidney-friendly wet food too, although she has made her opinions about the tastier alternatives quite clear. Piggly Wiggly spent most of her life making do with whatever the outside world gave her. Now she knows what it feels like to be safe, comfortable and loved, and she is ready for a family who will let her spend the rest of her years enjoying every bit of it.

To be considered as a potential adopter, complete an adoption application. Fortunately, Melly’s personality is every bit as lovable as her rotund little silhouette. She is sweet, gentle, playful, outgoing, and just an all-around happy girl who seems to take life in stride. Melly came to us after her person fell on hard times and she was left behind in an apartment. Despite having her whole world turned upside down, she adjusted remarkably fast to her foster home and wasted very little time making herself comfortable. She loves people and does wonderfully with other cats, too. We think she’d make an especially lovely companion for a kitty who could use a friend. And when the early morning hours roll around, Melly likes to hop into bed for snuggles, because apparently a small round melon makes an excellent cuddle buddy. At seven years old, Melly has that perfect grown-up-cat combination of playful and easygoing. She’s affectionate, adaptable, friendly, and ready to roll her round little self right into her forever home.

To be considered as a potential adopter, complete an adoption application.
