There’s nothing like the sweet little face of a kitten and the high energy, playful spirit that comes with them! Tails High aims to help the community by taking in litters of kittens in need, as well as orphan kittens, when they’re most fragile to ensure they’re in an experienced foster home to get them healthy and well socialized. All of our kittens are with us until they’re ready for spay\/neuter surgery before going to their forever homes. We prefer to place young kittens in homes with other cats or adopt them as pairs to continue to provide an enriched environment as cats learn so much from each other.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Katydid, Female, Born May<\/strong><\/span> 2025<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\r\n

Katydid isn\u2019t just any kitten\u2014she\u2019s a one-of-a-kind sweetheart who hops through life with pure joy and unstoppable charm. Born with spina bifida (also known as Manx syndrome), Katydid has no tail and walks in what\u2019s called a \u201cplantigrade stance,\u201d meaning she moves with her back legs stretched out behind her in a gentle bunny-hop style. That adorable gait is exactly how she earned her name\u2014like her namesake insect cousin, she\u2019s always bouncing around with spirit and curiosity! Katydid\u2019s condition also affects her bladder and bowels, so she needs a little extra help from her humans. Her foster mom expresses her bladder and bowels three times a day (it\u2019s easy to learn\u2014takes about five minutes total), and Katydid wears adorable washable diapers the rest of the time. Think of it as her own personal fashion statement! Plus, you won\u2019t need to add a litter box for her since she can\u2019t use it! Once you meet her, though, it\u2019s Katydid\u2019s personality that will steal your heart. She\u2019s endlessly affectionate, always purring, and happiest when snuggled up with her people or kitty friends. She loves to be kissed, held, and doted on, and she returns every ounce of affection tenfold. Between cuddle sessions, she\u2019s a whirlwind of play\u2014chasing wand toys, hopping after fuzzy balls, and zooming up and down the stairs like it\u2019s her personal racetrack. The only thing she can\u2019t do? Jump onto your kitchen counters. (We call that a bonus feature.) Katydid is very social and thrives on feline friendship, so she needs to be adopted to a home with another young, playful cat or kitten who loves to wrestle, chase, and nap in a cozy pile. She hasn\u2019t met any dogs yet, but we suspect she\u2019d do great with gentle, cat-savvy pups. She\u2019d also be a wonderful companion for kids or adults alike. To make her transition easy and stress-free, Tails High is offering an extended 30-day foster-to-adopt period so her new family can learn the ropes with support from Katydid\u2019s foster mom and our veterinary team. Her foster mom will teach you everything about expressing and diapering, and Katydid will come with her very own diaper wardrobe\u2014because a girl\u2019s gotta have options! Katydid can\u2019t wait to bounce her way into your life!

In fact, when you stop petting her, Nova pops right out of her comfy spot to ask for more \u2014 a sure sign that a devoted cuddle bug is just waiting to shine. He\u2019s still building his confidence, so he prefers to observe from a cozy hiding spot at first. But once he realizes he\u2019s safe, he melts into a ball of purrs and head nuzzles. Watching him choose to trust you is incredibly special. Cosmo is a big fan of Churus and will happily let you win him over with a tasty treat. He also adores playtime with his sister Nova and lights up when he\u2019s around other cats \u2014 he\u2019s especially curious about making new feline friends. There’s magic in every Fable, and this busy girl is no exception. Fable has personality to burn, big opinions, excellent communication skills, and a talent for the unexpected snuggle that will melt your heart. She loves the other foster and resident kitties, adores a good game of chase, sounds like she has 84 legs running up and down the stairs, and proudly carries her ducky toy everywhere before inevitably flinging it down the stairs so she can chase after it. Then she crashes for a nap like a pro. Fable is endlessly curious and fearless about everything, from new rooms and bigger cats to sink water she may or may not be learning to turn on herself. She’s obsessed with springs, birds outside the window, flies in the house, and supervising important human activities like shoe tying. She keeps the other cats on their toes with playful WWE-style head bops but reads cues well and knows when to back off. She has the funniest little personality. At least once a day she demands lap time from foster dad before immediately insisting he unhand her. She flops dramatically across foster mom at bedtime, requires morning head scritches, tolerates hugs and kisses with patience, and gives a very clear rrrr when she’s done being held. Fable needs another playful, friendly kitty to help her burn off her zoomies and would do well with older kids who understand cat boundaries. Fable has already overcome so much in her young life. Found abandoned outside in West Virginia with her mama Storybook, this tiny, fearless kitten quickly charmed everyone she met before bravely battling and beating FIP. She took her meds like a champ and is now healthy, thriving, and ready for the forever family she deserves. With magical Fable in your life, you’ll never be bored, always be entertained, and laugh every single day at her antics, confidence, and sweetness.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Angelina Ballerina, like many in the dance world, is graceful, lithe, light on her feet, quite a jumper, and often on her toes. Often called Bina, this sweet girl is quick to get right up on her hind legs when she wants pets, a Churu, or to get your attention. As much as she resembles the famous little ballerina mouse, she could sometimes pass as a baby bear, standing up and reaching for what she wants. Gorgeous love bug Bina of the softest fur and fancy white spot was found outside in DC, but was clearly meant for a comfortable indoor life. She can initially be hesitant around new people, but once you’re hers, she’ll be wherever you are, asking for snuggles, pets, food, or toys. She loves to chase springs and crinkle or bell balls, enjoys the laser dot, adores the cat dancer and wand toys, and loves a view with some birds. Bina is good with friendly cats, once she’s had a good introduction. She is a pro at the bop-and-run school of getting a kitty to chase her, learns boundaries pretty quickly, and is clear at asserting her own. She’s learning about staying off kitchen counters, even when they’re full of interesting equipment, and you’ll want to think before leaving drawers and cabinets open with Bina around. She does enjoy a good nose around in your stuff, but does learn pretty quickly what’s a No. This sweet, playful, funny girl is so ready to have a family to love and love her back. You’ll always be happy you opened your home to this lovey girl.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Darrius and Ella may have started out as siblings, but these days they’re best friends, teammates, and constant companions. As they’ve grown, this fluffy brother-sister duo has become more and more bonded, and they are now looking for a forever home where they can stay together. Playful, curious, and wonderfully confident, Darrius and Ella approach life with happy enthusiasm. Feather wands, crinkle toys, cardboard boxes, cat trees, toy mice, and sunny window sills are all fair game for their daily adventures. One minute they’re racing through the house together, and the next they’re curled up side by side for a well-earned nap. These two love being part of the action. They adore human attention, thrive in a busy home, and are especially fond of their foster dog brother, Edison, who they consider an important member of their entourage. She’s very smart, beating her siblings in milestones every step of the way. She knows how to get what she wants (usually pets) just by sitting and patiently waiting for you to give it to her. No begging needed when you’re this cute! She’s mostly black with a few faint white markings that accessorize her look. Askja loves to purr, cuddle on your lap, play with his siblings, snack, and explore. Grimsvotn (aka “Grimmy”) is king of the blep. There’s a solid chance if you see his face, he will be blep. This sweet as candy guy is a prime example of how sweet and affectionate black cats. Flip him over (he loves being a baby) for a striped belly surprise or cuddle him on your chest to be comforted by his gentle purrs. Grimsvotn is an adventurous, playful kitten who enjoys meeting new people and showing off his favorite toy, a plush ball. He loves wet and dry food and is a very clean boy. Grimmy would love to be adopted to a home with an energetic kitty or with one of his siblings so he has someone to play with.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

Reykjanes (“rake-yuh-ness” or just “Rey”) is the embodiment of energy. This boy hasn’t met a toy or human he didn’t like. Rey can always be relied on by his siblings to be down to wrestle or team up to “kill” a toy. Much like his brother, Grimsvotn, he is a master of the blep. It’s like his tongue forgets he has a mouth when he gets excited about something. He loves a good chat with his human, but he is a pro at being quiet in the car! Rey would like to be adopted by a family with an energetic, young cat or with one of his siblings as he needs a pal to get his energy out with.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

COURTESY POST: Franny is a boisterous 8-month-old kitten who loves teaser toys, sitting on chests, shoving her face directly into yours, sitting in open windows, and bunny kicking her toys. She was found happily wandering in a neighborhood, and her friendliness made her an instant hit with her foster family (who sadly already have 8 of their own cats and cant keep another, even one this cute and friendly!) Franny has a beautiful Torbie coat and an attitude to match. She knows that she is special, and she knows that you know it too! Her favorite thing to do when not eating is to stalk her wiggly teaser by hiding behind the bed skirt and pouncing on unsuspecting toys. Her energy is unrivaled, and she will instantly greet you at the door with a meow and a stretch, ready for games and pets. She likes to alternate between playing with her teasers and kickers and snuggling on laps or chests, building up her energy to play some more! Franny is still learning to contain her energy with her people, but she is smart and adaptable, very curious and loving, and the perfect edition for your family. She has firm boundaries about pets (NOT THE TAIL and preferably not the back either) but loves head, cheek, and chin scratches, scrunching her petite self into laps, lying on chests, knocking books out of your hand, and shoving her face right into yours with a soft cheek rub. She is probably best in a house without very young children as she nibbles a bit when playing, although not hard, but she would enjoy some older kids who can match her energy! *Courtesy posted kitties are not under Tails High custody and the adoption will be facilitated by the caretaker\/Good Samaritan or owner of the cat.
