This comment is for the post on Jasmine aka "Beleza."

I actually found Jasmine outside my apartment complex and contacted Tails High immediately along with approximately 15 other shelther/vets/rescues.

Because I have cats I couldn't risk keeping her at my small apartment so I talked to the animal shelter on Eisenhower Avenue and they agreed to take her temporarily. I made sure that she would be safe until I could figure out what the next steps would be to finding her a new home.

I actually named her "Bette" after Bette Davis because of her electric eyes. The shelter on Eisenhower named her "Jasmine."

I worked with Joby to get her out of the Animal Shelter and I took her to a friends house where she lived for two weeks in her own private room. We thought she may have had a skin condition (hence the private room) that would have prevented her from being around other foster cats and animals at other Tails High homes. So, we waited for the results of all the tests to come back and it turned out that she was healthy all around. After two weeks, Tails High took Jasmine aka Bette aka Beleza to be spayed. It turned out she was already spayed. I have a feeling she was somebody's pet that couldn't take care of her anymore and just left her on her own :(.

I just thought you would like more accurate history of her long adventure to a new home.

I have been looking on the Tails High website for more information and finally found this post. I am so happy that she has a loving home. I was worried about her. I knew from the second I found her that she would make a great pet.

Merry Christmas.

Thank you Tails High. You are the best.

From TH Advocate Juli, who was the first link in Velvet's Angel Chain:

History of Velvet: When Velvet came to me after being trapped (she had been fed since a lone kitten near a school and in a yard in Falls Church)...As she sat in her relocation cage and looked up at us, she was so gorgeous and sweet with that gentle look in her face and those beautiful eyes that Val, my fellow trapper said, "she's not going back out", end of story, That is when some socializing began as she was just a bit past the "keep" age of 12-14 weeks, she was a few months old. I tried Joby's clicker. It helped. She would touch it and get her reward but like all of these little outdoor kitties, she would not come to me. Then Kelley took charge and kept her at her side in her office. That did it. I couldn't believe how calm she was when I visited a few months later. Thank heavens I could visit her when she was at Petco Annandale recently and I cleaned her cage on Thursdays. I was so excited to see her.

This is truly a wonderful adoption story as Velvet needed that special someone to fall in love with her. Thank You Tails High for giving Velvet TIME AND PATIENCE.. Thank you, thank you everyone for giving Velvet this chance. This will keep me going. Juli

I find that reading these stories about Tails High kitties a real joy. There truly are very interesting stories about their personalities or how they have have come to us. The volunteers work really hard to bring these wonderful animals to a caring group who find them the best new home. Thank you Tails High!

I am so impressed with the writing of the interesting stories. Having been in public relations for years, I truly appreciate this, it made reading about the rescued and very adoptable kitties a pleasure. There truly are many incredible stories behind each and every one of these little lives.

I'm thankful that Mary B. has agreed to write this weekly "TH Adoption Adventures" column! It's so wonderful to read about cats and kittens I've met during their stay at Tails High finding their forever homes.
