This weekend’s adoption events were filled with the holiday spirit. On Saturday, Mindful Hands/Tibet Shop in Old Town, Alexandria was bustling with curious cat enthusiasts, all vying for the chance to hold one of our featured felines.
The Alexandria Scottish Christmas Walk down King Street coupled with the sunny, unseasonably warm weather in Alexandria made for tons of people in the store, which is never a bad thing for our kitties! They received lots of valuable cuddle time and some visitors were so inspired by our mission that we were able to recruit them as new potential new foster parents. In addition, the bake sale raised over $250 for Tails High, thanks to the delicious brownies, cookies, and cupcakes baked by our supporters. Sweet!
Best of all, we had three kitties find their forever homes at the Mindful Hands event this week. The five months old brother and sister pair, Tigger and Felix, were adopted by Katie and her husband. Tigger is a brown tabby and Felix, an orange tabby, is the escape artist whose adventure you may remember from a recent issue of The Scratching Post. Bubblegum endeared herself by snuggling into the lap of a passerby, and then went home with her new adopted mom, Terri. This two-three month old gray and white kitten, named for her bright pink nose, recently appeared on Ken and Claudia’s patio with her feral cat-mom. Talk about kitty-initiative!
Sunday’s adoption event at PetMAC in Arlington was a bit calmer, yet with the Tails High 25% off discount, our supporters bought out the store’s supply of catnip-stuffed bananas! Carter, Sonny, Salsa, and Sunshine were all socialized to their heart’s content. Carter, who Adoption Chair Kelley describes as a “love bug,” took advantage of the opportunity to fastidiously groom the three other kitties.
We look forward to more matchmaking at our three events this weekend: at the Petco DC, Annandale, and Tysons Corner locations. We hope to see you there!
